Kaedon BlogMOTE’s coral work is so important because it will help restore the amount of coral being lost each year. Their work also helps to find out why these corals are being lost in the first place. These findings can lead to different discoveries with the corals and help see how certain problems can affect them. Being given the opportunity to work with MOTE to transplant these corals is amazing. It makes me feel like I am making a difference, helping them complete work in one day that could take them weeks to do. Personally it means a lot, allowing me to have the opportunity to help the ocean get its coral back.

The science was awesome because it was something I had never done and allowed me to see things such as coral grow over, how coral is planted, and the most efficient way of growing coral. The diving was amazing because there were all the colors of the rainbow under the water, the contrast of creatures that come out during the night and day, and the skill of the other divers amazed me because what they didn’t get they learned to do. I will not forget this trip any time soon
